Biography
James H. Dahlgren Jr. is Chief Executive Officer of WPM Real Estate Management. As CEO, James oversees WPM’s overall performance across its four divisions: Multifamily Real Estate, Association Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, and Maintenance & Construction Services. He is responsible for leading the company’s continued growth and strengthening its next generation of leaders to ensure long-term sustainability for the company.
Prior to his appointment to CEO, James served as President for WPM where he oversaw the growth and expansion of the company’s geographic footprint into Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia. He has been instrumental in revamping incentive compensation and review processes, as well as updating operational technology and systems across the firm. He believes in building a performance-driven culture – one that embraces diversity and promotes learning and growth for all Associates. Under his leadership, WPM continues to earn awards and accolades for its high resident satisfaction ratings as well as recognition as a top workplace in the region.
James started with WPM Real Estate Management as an intern in 2005, joining the firm full-time in 2007 as an Assistant Property Manager and was later promoted to Property Manager with the Multifamily Real Estate division. His experience also includes budget forecasting, investment analysis and deal underwriting for market rate and senior living assets. During his tenure with WPM, he continued to expand his role, taking on increasing corporate responsibilities and eventually moving into the role of Vice President and Director of Business Development & Corporate Marketing.
A graduate of McDaniel College, James is a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM®) through the National Apartment Association, instructs real estate classes for the Maryland Multi Housing Association (MMHA®) and sits on the MMHA Legislative Committee. He was named to the Maryland Daily Record’s 2017 VIP List, is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Baltimore County, and was selected by the Baltimore Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 Honoree in 2022.
